Chest Pain (GI Related)
Chest pain unrelated to the heart is also called non-cardiac chest pain. The pain typically felt behind the breast bone and can feel oppressive, squeezing or pressure-like which may radiate to the neck, left arm or the spine. The chest pain may last variable periods of time and may be associated to reflux symptoms such as heartburn.
What are the Causes?
- Esophagel contraction disorders
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) or acid reflux
- Visceral (esophagel) Hypersensitivity
Treatments include:
- Medication
- Muscle Relaxant
- Surgical Treatment
- Lifestyle modifications such as elevation of the head of the bed, weight loss, cessation of smoking, avoid excessive alcohol, and etc.
